Chateau de Montfrin

Château de Montfrin is a historic French estate in the Gard region between Languedoc and Provence, known for producing organic extra virgin olive oils and wines rooted in centuries-old agricultural tradition. The company is centered around the Château de Montfrin domain, a property long held by the de Fleurieu family (acquired by the grandfather of current owner Jean-René de Fleurieu in 1925), where vineyards and olive groves sit alongside the château’s historic buildings. The estate manages hundreds of acres of organically farmed land, including vineyards for organic wines and olive orchards planted with a variety of traditional cultivars from Provence, Tuscany, Catalonia, and Languedoc. The olives are harvested at peak ripeness and then cold-pressed at the family’s mill, called Moulin des Ombres (“Mill of the Shadows”), to preserve their purity, aroma, and organoleptic qualities. Château de Montfrin’s olive oils reflect both terroir and craftsmanship — balanced, expressive, and mild to robust depending on the blend — and are produced alongside a portfolio of organic wines that draw on the rich soils and Mediterranean climate of southern France. In essence, the company combines historic estate heritage, organic farming, and artisan production to deliver premium French olive oils and wines that emphasize freshness, quality, and a deep connection to the land.
